"LIGHTS, SHADOWS, & TIME CAPSULES"
This project was recorded back in 2015. The title was a play on words but also packed double meanings. The very first solo project I coproduced was titled "Mics, Candles, & Mind Travel" back in the early 2000s. I called this new project, "Lights, Shadows, & Time Capsules." To me, each time a song gets recorded, it's like creating an audio time capsule. The beats and lyrics are like butterflies and each time a song is recorded, a new glass jar is used to capture the insect. The lights and shadows stood for good and bad times experienced in a relationship that ultimately came to an end. I was very depressed during the making of this. I have a whole album with songs and lyrics for almost every track. When I recorded it, my voice sounds so low and monotone to this day I don't like listening to it because it reflects a time in my life where I was at one of my lowest points ever. Despite all that, I really loved this project. The heavy intermission in particular was my favorite track because of all the talking samples and subject matter. All the beats were produced on the Ensoniq ASR 10, programmed on the MPC 2000XL, and created with plenty of records as always.
